The Stena Line Belfast Giants fell to a 2-1 Elite League defeat at home on Friday against Coventry Blaze.

Robin Bergman gave the visitors an early lead, scoring at 4:05 assisted by Marquardt and Jorgensen.

Jim Jorgensen then turned from provider to scorer in the second period when he doubled the Blaze’s lead at 24:14, assisted by Marquardt and Carnevale.

Colin Shields, assisted by Garside and Benedict, pulled one back for the Giants at 44:46 to give the home team and home fans some late hope. However the Giants were unable to find a way past the Coventry defence and the visitors held on for an important win.

The teams face-off again at the SSE Arena on Saturday with the Giants bidding to regain fourth place after the Blaze overtook the Belfast side with Friday’s win.
