Giants Leave Dundee Seeing Stars With 6-2 Win

The Stena Line Belfast Giants won 6-2 on Tuesday night over the Dundee Stars in a one-sided affair at The SSE Arena, Belfast. The hosts outshot the Stars 41-27 on the night and, with the win, moved to within three points of Friday's opponents - the fourth placed Nottingham Panthers.

The Stena Line Belfast Giants won 6-2 on Tuesday night over the Dundee Stars in a one-sided affair at The SSE Arena, Belfast. The hosts outshot the Stars 41-27 on the night and, with the win, moved to within three points of Friday's opponents - the fourth placed Nottingham Panthers.

With Johan Ejdepalm and Jeff Mason Tuesday's scratches from the line-up - the Giants got off to the worst possible start as Scott Brannon gave Dundee an early lead after only 35 seconds. However Mike Radja equalised with 14:34 on the clock, finishing off from a nice pass from David Rutherford and leaving the score at 1-1 at the end of the first period.

It was that man again, Brannon, who pulled the visitors back into the lead at 26:29, however Michael Forney pulled the Giants level once more at 32:38 with a fine short handed finish. The second period need with the Giants in the lead thanks to Brandon Benedict's solo effort at 38:18.

It was in the third period that the Giants pull away from the Stars as, first, Jonathan Boxill scored at 42:39, assisted by Adam Keefe and Mike Wilson before Chris Higgins scored a highlight-reel effort at 44:07.

Kris Beech rounded off the scoring at 58:06 as his wrist shot flew past Trevor Koenig in the Dundee goal to give the Stena Line Belfast Giants a convincing 6-2 win.

The Giants return to action on Friday in Belfast, against the Nottingham Panthers - face-off 7pm.
