Four men have been arrested after a hijacking in Bangor.

The incident happened at a car park in Bingham Lane at around 10pm on Thursday.

The man driving the car was approached by four others, one of them reportedly armed with a handgun.

They ordered him to get out and one of the man then drove off in the car, heading down a pedestrian walkway.

It's believed the others were then running along behind the vehicle, which ended up crashing into a bollard.

At that point, the driver ran off.

Police located the four men a short time later and are now questioning them.

Detective Sergeant Miskelly said "Anyone who witnessed the highjacking or who has any information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact detectives by calling 101, quoting reference number 1332 20/09/18.”
