Fire at Dungannon school treated as arson

Over 40 firefighters were called to tackle a blaze at a Co Tyrone school between Sunday evening and Monday morning.

A fire at a former school in Dungannon is being treated as an arson attack.

A total of 43 firefighters, alongside five appliances eventually brought the flames at St Patrick's Academy in Dungannon under control and extinguished them.

The blaze left a number of old portacabins destroyed - but was brought under control before reaching the main building.

Police are treating the incident as arson and officers would ask anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the Killymeal Road area on Sunday or who has information which could assist them with their enquiries to contact police in Dungannon on 101 quoting reference number 1369 05/08/18.
