Down Royal: two-day race festival off due to heavy rain
The meet will now take place next week
The famous Down Royal horse-racing festival has been postponed due to heavy rain.
The two-day spectacle was expected to get under way tomorrow but with unprecedented flooding levels across Northern Ireland in recent days, organisers said last night that the event could no longer go ahead.
It will now take place next Friday (November 10th) and Saturday (11th).
In a statement the organisers said they had to postpone the festival "after a period of prolonged heavy rainfall."
"All tickets will be valid for the new race dates," the statement said
"Should you wish not to attend, you are entitled to claim a full refund for your race day tickets within 28 days of cancellation. "
