Damage caused to Newry church could cost thousands to repair

Detectives are investigating a report of criminal damage at a church in Cloghogue, Newry.

Police say they received a report around nine o'clock on Friday morning that six windows in the Dublin Road building and four of an outside toilet had been smashed overnight.

It is believed repairs could cost thousands of pounds.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “We would appeal to anyone with information in relation to this incident, or who may have noticed any suspicious behaviour in the area between Thursday 12th January at midnight and Friday 13th January at 8am to contact police on 101.
