COVID-19: Shutters go up as NI businesses enjoy lockdown lift-off

Northern Ireland took a giant leap towards normality today (Friday) with businesses opening for the first time in four months since being locked-down.

And shoppers were out in force as soon as the shutters were lifted.

Publicans, cafe owner and restaurateurs are now able to trade outdoors, while all non-essential retailers opened their doors again.

There were long queues outside popular retail outlets such as Primark in Belfast and Londonderry from early on as hundreds of shoppers returned to the various towns and city centres.

Downtown Radio & Cool FM spent the morning in Derry where our Reporter Chelsie Kealey spoke to shoppers and business owners.
