Cars damaged during disorder in Galliagh
It happened after authorities removed material from a Republican bonfire

Cars have been damaged and burning barricades put up during disorder in Co Londonderry.
Trouble broke out last night after authorities removed pallets from a Republican bonfire in Galliagh earlier in the day because of safety concerns.
Shortly before 9pm, police issued a warning to drivers and the public to avoid the area.
A PSNI statement said, “Police are aware of sporadic public disorder in the Galliagh area of Derry / Londonderry this evening, Monday, August 7.”
“Damage has been caused to a number of vehicles and we are advising motorists and pedestrians to avoid the area.”
“Police are in attendance and an update will be issued in due course.”
A later PSNI update said, “Crowds gathered in the Galliagh area of Derry / Londonderry on Monday, August 7 have now dispersed, police can confirm”
District Commander, Superintendent William Calderwood said "We would like to thank members of the public for their patience and cooperation during the disruption.”
"We will continue to monitor the situation."
