17 more covid-related deaths in NI

The Department of Health has recorded 17 more covid-related deaths in Northern Ireland.

15 of the deaths happened within the past 24 hours, while the other 2 were outside of the reporting period.

Another 1,112 positive cases have been identified, after a further 3,480 people were tested.

There are currently 703 covid patients in hospital, 53 in ICU.

In Northern Ireland tighter rules around movement will remain in place until February 6 but will be reviewed later this month.

Stormont ministers have ordered most mainstream schools to remain closed to most pupils after Christmas.

Gatherings for religious worship have also been halted.
