Ashley Banjo opens up about life on the road with Diversity ahead of 2022 tour
Have you got your tickets yet?
Diversity took the nation by storm when they won the third series of Britain’s Got Talent in 2009 and have so far sold out nine UK and Irish tours, sold over 600,000 tickets, with countless television and live performances.
Over the past 12 years thanks to the overwhelming support of their fans and the British public they have continued to wow audiences and inspire people around the world.
In between Dancing on Ice live shows and busy tour rehearsals, dance leader Ashley Banjo squeezed in a quick chat with Cool FM's Pete Snodden.
When asked how crazy the past decade has been for the group, Ashley jokes: "You know I feel like I've just shut my eyes and woken up talking to you. Literally it's just been a total whirlwind."
Diversity are one of the few dance groups to have made it big, not just in the UK but across the world. They continue to stand the test of time, constantly growing, innovating and achieving great things together.
Ashley shared what he thinks is the secret to their success. "I feel like we have a really individual set-up in Diversity. I know a lot of people are close at work, but genuinely we are family. Some of the group have known each other for 20+ years, we tackle everything together, we love coming up with new ideas, it's a genuine way of life for us."
That's not to say the band don't have their disagreements, like any family there's tension sometimes.
"We don't fall out often for the amount we're all together, but we have that typical family dynamic, that you know when you fall out, you fall out big."
So what can we expect from Diversity's new tour when they visit Belfast on June 2nd at the Waterfront Hall?
"People will have genuinely never have seen anything like this before. There really isn't anybody else out there that does anything like we do. People sometimes think they're coming to see a dance group dance, but that's just step one in ten, there's so much that surrounds it.
"Our shows are unique, if you like dance, definitely come along, and it will surprise you!"
