Belfast Pride is Northern Ireland’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender festival, with over 135 Pride events running this week alone in the capital.

One of the most important events in the calendar - celebrating together in solidarity helps show the world that Belfast and Northern Ireland want to see better Equality rights for the people living here.

The Pride Parade is the city’s biggest cross community parade, which saw over 65,000 marching at the last one, held in 2019.

The first Belfast Pride event took place in 1991, where 100 brave people marched for equality.

This year is expected to be the biggest year yet, showcasing that the people of Belfast are in favour of Equality for all.

Belfast Pride is one of the biggest festivals in Belfast, just last year it was voted the best medium sized Pride event in the UK.

That’s according to Hits Radio Pride’s poll which saw votes for over 150 different local and specialised events of all sizes across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

Seán Ó Néill, Chair Belfast Pride Festival said: “Belfast Pride brings a rainbow of colour and defiance to Belfast along with an ambitious programme that brings the city alive, mixing protest and celebration and bringing affirmation and visibility to LGBT+ citizens.”
