Derry Girls Jamie-Lee O'Donnell takes on new role in Channel 4's 'Screw'
Our Michelle looks all grown up 🤣
Jamie-Lee O'Donnell's portrayal of the troublesome teen Michelle Mallon in Channel 4's hilarious comedy series Derry Girls leaves us all in stitches.
But for her next project, Jamie-Lee is swapping the school tie for a set of handcuffs, in an upcoming prison drama called Screw.
It follows the staff of C Wing in the busy men’s prison Long Marsh, a place that’s bursting at the seams with humour, emotional high stakes and danger for prisoners and officers alike.
Channel 4 have described the show as 'life in prison as never before seen on British television.' It was inspired by the creator’s experience of working and volunteering in prisons in the UK.
Through a vibrant and multi-layered cast of characters, Screw tackles contemporary stories head on – but always cut through with comedy, irreverence and heart.
Jamie-Lee plays the role of Rose, a 21 year old trainee officer that's street smart and feisty. She joins fellow screws Ali (Faraz Ayub - Line of Duty, Bodyguard), Gary (Stephen Wight -Manhunt), Don (Ron Donachie - Titanic, Game of Thrones), and Jackie (Laura Checkley- King Gary, Detectorists).
How to watch Screw:
Screw is coming to Channel 4 and All 4 in early 2022.
Although a lot of our favourite shows were postponed in 2020 due to the pandemic, such as Peaky Blinders, Sex Education and Line of Duty, there's still hope that a lot of TV shows will make a return in the coming months, and we couldn't be more excited!
