New material announced from country duo Montgomery Gentry
'It is the best record of our career'
When Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry of Montgomery sat down and tried to pick out the lead single for their forthcoming album they never managed to reach a concrete comculsion, and unfortunately, as a duo, they never will get to make that decision.
Tragically Troy was killed in a helicopter crash at the age of 50 back at the start of the month. Eddie has started to speak out about the loss he has had to face due to the loss of his musical partner. The duo had been together for nearly three full decades.
Recently in an open letter for ‘Billboard Country Update’ Eddie gave us a little update of where he was at.
"Over the past few months me and T-Roy have been working on what I think is the best record of our career,” he says of what will now be the last album the duo made together. “In the last few weeks we had been talking about what our first single would be. Then on September 8, none of that mattered.’
Eddie then went on to mention the song that was played during Troy’s farewell service. It was the song ‘Better Me’ which the duo had recently recorded for their latest album due later in the year.
‘Better Me’ is a song we all loved and Troy sings his ass off on it. It speaks volumes about his life and who he had become and everyone he touched and how much he loved his family.
“I am so proud of the song,” he said, “and also to call him my friend, my family, my brother for 30 years.”
