She may be a Grammy award winning country superstar but working with Bangor singer-songwriter Foy Vance was a dream come true for Miranda Lambert.

The 33-year-old teamed up with Vance to co-write the single ‘Pushin time,’ which features on her latest album.

The ballad tells the story of the trajectory of a whirlwind romance, with vocals from her current squeeze Anderson East.

Miranda said:

“I actually got to meet him when he was in Nashville recording his last record, I just loved him.

“It was really cool getting to write with Foy because I’m a huge fan, he’s a great lyricist, his melodies are amazing.”

She added: “He and I exchanged numbers and we got together and wrote that song here at my house in Nashville.”

Miranda’s latest album ‘The Weight of these Wings’ was written following the breakdown of her marriage to fellow country star Blake Shelton.

The pair were married for four years and dubbed country’s power couple in the industry. Miranda says performing the raw, emotional songs on tour after the break up has helped her heart heal.

“It almost helps to perform night after night but definitely the first couple of times it was pretty difficult,” she said.

“I’m really thankful that I’m able to share those moments with fans, you know like those really intimate moments, I feel like everybody’s in it together."

She described the album as a more conventional country sound and a move away from some of her more modern, upbeat hits.

“I love traditional country and the new wave of it is quite different but I’m really glad to be able to do my own thing and that it’s so acceptable to sort of make my own lane,” she said.

The singer enjoyed a brief stint on America drama series Law and Order but admitted she has no plans to return to acting, saying her heart lies in music.

“I did do Law and Order that’s the only acting thing that I’ve done and I realised it was fun but it’s not for me,” she insisted.

Harvest fest comes to Enniskillen and Westport on the August 26 and 27.

The American, British and Irish country event in Enniskillen and Westport boasts a star-studded line up, including Nathan Carter.
