Little Big Town's Big Day

Published 25th Feb 2017

March 24th will be a day forever engraved in the heads of Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, Jimi Westbrook and Phillip Sweet. Not only is it the day the Grammy award winning band drop their brand new album “The Breaker” but it is also the day that they will be the first band in 125 years to take up a residency in the iconic “Mother Church” of country music, The Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, home of the Grand Ole Opry show from 1943 – 1974.

By the time our heads hit the pillow in little old Northern Ireland the fantastic four will be getting ready to hit the stage and showcase some of the best music that Country has to offer. They first appeared on the famous Ryman stage in 2005, only seven years since forming as a band. They are set to host a series of six shows through 2017 featuring a host of special guest appearances and support acts. “As musicians, there is no better feeling in the world than playing on the stage at the Ryman,” said Little Big Town’s Jimi Westbrook via their website.

“To be given the opportunity to headline their first residency means so much to us as a band and we promise to make each night as memorable for the fans as possible.” It proves to be a popular move as the February shows are fully subscribed.

Currently their “Better Man” single is sitting top of the country airplay chart, a single that took eighteen weeks to hit the top spot and I expect “The Breaker” album to go the same way in the Billboard Top Country Album Chart of which Reba McEntire is currently in prime position with her “sing It Now” album.

"The Breaker"will feature this incoming week as Kirstie’s album of the week on the Mid Morning show on Downtown Country from 9am each morning so be sure to tune in and find out what the hype is about.
