Jason Aldean’s “Try That in a Small Town” has topped the Billboard Hot 100, pushing fellow country stars Morgan Wallen and Luke Combs to the second and third spots.

Aldean first released “Try That in a Small Town” back in May, but it has gained more attention since the release of the music video on July 14th.

The singer has received criticism as some say the song’s lyrics encourage gun violence.

Posting a clip to 4.3million Instagram fans, Aldean wrote: “When u grow up in a small town, it’s that unspoken rule of “we all have each other’s backs and we look out for each other.”

“It feels like somewhere along the way, that sense of community and respect has gotten lost. Deep down we are all ready to get back to that. I hope my new music video helps y’all know that u are not alone in feeling that way. Go check it out!”
