Get to know Country to Country's Saturday night headliner: Kane Brown

One of country music’s most recent and on growing successes Kane Brown will be headlining the Country to Country Belfast Saturday night.

The American country music singer and songwriter was born on October 21, 1993, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA.

The artist gained widespread recognition and popularity through social media, where he began sharing cover songs on platforms like Facebook and YouTube.

Having moved around northwest Georgia through his youth, his family settled in Red Bank, Tennessee where he attended Lakeview Fort Oglethorpe High School in Fort Oglethorpe. During his time at High School, Kane sang in the school choir with fellow country artist Lauren Alaina, who he later created the single “What Ifs” with.

Kane’s grew up listening to country music but simultaneously had a strong interest in R&B music in middle school.

The artist auditioned for American Idol and The X Factor USA following the success of his school friend Lauren Alainia who was the runner-up on the tenth season of American Idol but left the show when its producers wanted Kane to join a boy band. The artist then turned to social media posting covers of songs by Brantley Gilbert, Billy Currington, Alan Jackson and other artists. His cover of Lee Brice’s “I Don’t Dance” was one cover that gained the artist wide attention. In 2015 his cover of George Strait’s “Check Yes or No” went viral receiving more than seven million views, rocketing his Facebook followers past one million. Its success led to a teaser clip for his own single “Used to Love You Sober” hitting one million views in less than 3 hours upon and reaching more than 11 million views in 2 weeks.

Brown has been nominated for many awards, winning the 2018 Collaborative Video of the Year at the CMT Music Awards, Favourite Country Male Artist, Favourite Country Album and Favourite Country Song at American Music Awards and Most Passionate Fanbase of 2018, Most Jaw-Dropping Performance of 2018 and Best Country Album at the Taste of Country Fan Choice Awards.

In 2019, Kane won Favourite Country Male Artist at the American Music Awards and Male Video of the Year at the CMT Music Awards. In 2021, he won Video of the Year for “Worldwide Beautiful” at the ACM awards.

Brown has released three studio albums, with his first titled “Kane Brown” released in 2016, receiving a RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) 3x Platinum and MC(Music Canada)Platinum. The album includes singles “Thunder in the Rain”, “What Ifs” and “Heaven” making it the fifth best-selling country album in 2017.

2018 called for the release of his second studio album “Experiment” that includes the single “Lose It” and “American Bad Dream” that was wrote about the 2017 Las Vegas shooting. The album was nominated for American Music Award for Favourite Country Album. The album received a RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) Platinum and MC (Music Canada) Platinum.

His latest album “Different Man” was released in 2022 and certified RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) Gold. Brown co-produced his third- studio album which was preceded by the singles "One Mississippi", "Like I Love Country Music", and "Grand", with "Thank God", a duet with his singer-songwriter wife Katelyn Brown.
