Brooke Scullion from Bellaghy, Co Derry/Londonderry has officially been chosen to represent Ireland with her hit single 'That's Rich' in the Eurovision Song Contest in Turin this May.

The winning song was awarded by a public vote, an international jury and a studio jury.

A live sing-off took place between six local musicians last night (Friday 4th) on a special edition of The Late Late Show on RTE.

Brooke is no stranger to singing battles, having conquered each one on The Voice, getting the chance to duet with pop star Ella Eyre in the final.

The Eurovision hopeful caught up with Cool FM's Curtis McCosh to chat about all things new music and her potential trip to Italy this summer.

Brooke shared that she has grown up watching the Eurovision Song Contest year after year. “To get the opportunity to represent my country is amazing. Ireland is the most successful country, so I think I’m going to have to bring the trophy back for everyone this year.”

It’s not just Brooke’s vocals that will be put to the test in Turin, there’s also choreography involved too.

“I actually wrote this song last Christmas…I wanted to create something that was 80s inspired with contemporary elements and suppose we just hit the nail on the head with this. It wasn’t really made with Eurovision in mind, but as soon as we saw the entries were open we thought it was going to take Ireland into a new modern era for Eurovision.”
