Country Music looses another one of it's own

On a day where country music lost a great, we learned of the horror of another tragedy. The helicopter carrying Troy Gentry from Montgomery Gentry went down around 1pm eastern time in Medford, New Jersey on Friday 8th September. Details of the crash are still being investigated, but it is confirmed that Gentry and the helicopter's pilot were killed whilst attempting to land at the Flying W Airport and Resort, where the Montgomery Gentry duo were booked to play.

Montgomery Gentry’s style can be described as Rock Country with influences coming from the likes of Charlie Daniels, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Hank Williams Jr. Their first big song was ‘Hillbilly Shoes’ released in 1999 landed at number thirteen on the US Country chart and partly helped them win Vocal Duo of the Year at the ACM awards. It also featured on the soundtrack of the 2005 film ‘The Dukes of Hazzard’

The duo were working on new material for their ninth studio album to be released later this year after leaving Blaster Records and signing with Average Joes Entertainment towards the end of 2016.

At just 50 years of age Gentry is survived by his wife of eighteen years Angie McClure Gentry, and his daughters Kaylee and Taylor
