Cash for Kids are delighted to have been able to help support Clic Sargent NI and donate a massive almost a £1/4 million to support the Homes from Home Appeal Appeal from our annual Cash for Kids Day in 2012 and 2014, as well as support from Mission Christmas.

Every week, two children and young people in Northern Ireland hear the shocking news they have cancer. On average a family in Northern Ireland will make a round-trip of 95 miles, up to five times a week so that they can access the cancer treatment their child needs. This puts a big financial strain on the family with the cost of travel and possibly temporary accommodation while their child is undergoing treatment. Being diagnosed with cancer is a frightening experience and the emotional, practical and financial implications of treatment are intensely challenging for the whole family

This appeal raised money to provide free self-catering accommodation close to the specialist treatment centres. The Homes from Home will have shared kitchens and lounges, playrooms, teenagers’ rooms, laundry facilities and an outside space. Most of all they will provide a friendly and relaxing place, for the children to spend valuable time with their family and friends away from the clinical environment in a hospital.
