About George Bowie
Five things we don't know about you
Everybody knows everything about me I live my life on the air and tell everybody everything. Doesn't always go down well with the family but hey-ho!
Career History
I've worked at Clyde since 1988 and presented the Breakfast show for over 25 years! I've also presented the Saturday night dance show GBX for 20 years on and off. I started in the production office after handing in a demo for someone else and asked if there were any part time jobs going. Turned out they needed someone to run tapes on a Saturday night and they haven't got rid of me since.
Career Highlight to date/any awards?
Still waiting on that career highlight. I think I'm spending too much time having fun and not taking myself seriously at all.
I've won 2 Sony's and 3 New York Awards which is nice. I've won a few Club DJ Awards too over the years and so far this year I've remixed tunes for Spandau Ballet, Marcus Collins and Neon Jungle.
If you could change ONE thing about the UK, what would it be?
I would love for the sun to shine more and the rain to fall less but I don't think that's going to happen.
Favourite band/music act of all time?
David Bowie. I think maybe because he stole my name, he's really David Jones. I got into his music at a very early age and got a day off school in 1983 to see him play live at Murrayfield. Still my favourite gig of all time.
Which fashion accessory could you not live without?
I don't care. I'll wear anything as anyone who's been to any of my gigs will vouch for.
Who is the most interesting person you have interviewed and why?
I found George Michael a fascinating man to interview. He was having a bad day when I hooked up with him in London and my 15 minute slot was cut to 5 minutes. 1 hour later I had to shut him up and finish the interview or I would have missed my flight back to Glasgow. He later asked me to DJ for him at Hampden Park which was incredible.
If we gave you £1000 to spend, what would you spend it on?
Take the GBX team out for a party. ! hour later I'd be back asking you for more money.
If you weren't on the radio, what would you be doing?
I'd probably be a music producer. I do a bit of that on the side and would eventually like to do that full-time. But not yet, I'm having took much fun talking rubbish on the radio.
