9 ways to survive Blue Monday
Ideas to get through the most depressing day of the year!
Combining bad weather, January Blues and a number of other factors, Monday 20th January is also known as Blue Monday and billed as the most depressing day of the year! 😞
Don't let it get to you though, we have nine ways to lighten your mood and get you through Blue Monday.
1. Eat Chocolate
In a recent survey 36% of people said chocolate was their favourite food to make them feel better. Don't worry, eating chocolate has also been scientifically proven to release endorphins - chemicals that make us feel good.
2. Eat well
While it might seem to contradict the point above keeping a healthy diet can make you feel good in the long run so try to keep away from the fatty foods.
3. Exercise
Similar to point two, keeping healthy through regular exercise can also help you keep happy. You don't have to be mega fit, but try and add a bit of exercise to your daily routine and you'll soon see the benefits.
4. Listen to music
Listening to music, whatever takes your fancy will keep you smiling and you might even start dancing around the house like this Instagram user. In a recent poll pop music was the most popular type of music to lighten someone's mood.
5. Watch viral videos
Viral videos are a great way to improve your mood.
6. Wear bright clothes
Brighten your day by brightening your wardrobe. Wear some bright clothes and you'll begin to feel the summer vibe already.
7. Be kind
All it takes is a little smile or a simple 'hello' to make you feel better and you'll find everyone else responds to you in a better way too.
8. Plan a holiday or a day out
Don't wait til the summer to plan a short holiday or a day out with friends and family. Do it now so it's something to look forward to.
If you're still feeling a bit strapped for cash there are plenty of free places to go so it doesn't have to be expensive.
9. Treat yourself
There's nothing better than giving yourself a treat, whether it's a spa treatment or just a bath at home surrounded by soothing music and candles make time for yourself, you'll feel much better after.
Don't let Blue Monday get to you this year!
