H&M's jeans described as 'laughable' by student who struggles to get into a larger size
Have you had the same experience?
Ruth Clemens from Leeds was browsing the sales rack at her local H&M when she came across a bargain pair of jeans for a tenner.
Excited by the prospect of bagging such a bargain she promptly went to try them on.
The 25-year-old, who's normally a size 14 was astounded when she couldn't even do up the size 16 jeans. Taking a photo of her attempt to fit in the jeans she posted it on the shop's official Facebook page.
Ruth, fairly tall at 5ft 11 says in her post, 'It's already difficult enough for me to find clothes that fit well because of my height, why are you making jeans that are unrealistically small?
'Am I too fat for your everyday range?'
In just three days her post has attracted over 10,000 shares and 76,000 reactions along with plenty of comments from fellow shoppers (including men) agreeing with Ruth.
'Doesn't just happen to lasses, they don't do clothes to fit me in h&m' (sic), said Brett Whyman from Sheffield, while África Smith de Diego who lives in Leeds commented, 'This is ridiculous! people with flat stomach are now gonna become plus size? What's next? We'll have to get a concave belly?' (sic)
H&M have responded to the post saying, 'At H&M we make clothing for all our stores around the world, so the sizing can vary depending on the style, cut and fabric.'
They also included a link to their size guide, which they say is the same one used around the world.
Other chains have also come under fire recently for only stocking smaller sizes including Zara which hit the headlines after 18-year-old Anna Riera from Spain started a petition to get the High Street shop to stock size 18, which she won. This was the second petition she has won after getting Zara to remove the 'anorexic' mannequins used in shop windows.
