Around 150 firefighters are tackling a major blaze at an industrial estate in Erith in south east London.

A warehouse, crane, and several vehicles are alight on Maypole Crescent.

Residents are being urged to keep windows and doors shut due to thick smoke.

The cause of the blaze is not yet known.

A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade said: "Local residents are advised to keep their windows and doors closed where possible due to smoke being produced.

Two 32-metre turntable ladders have been deployed to provide a vantage point for assessing the scene and to deliver water from above."

One of the Brigade's fire boats was also mobilised to the incident.

The boat has two remote-operated water monitors which can pump 2,500 litres per minute, to help with firefighting operations from the Thames.

The Brigade's Control Officers took the first of 10 calls to the fire at 2247 and mobilised crews from Bexley, Erith, Plumstead, East Greenwich, Sidcup and surrounding fire stations to the scene.

The fire was under control by 0652.

The cause of the fire is not known at this time and there are no reports of any injuries.
