The family of the man who died when a bin lorry crashed into a building in Leominster, say they are in "compete disbelief and utter heartbreak."
Andzie “Stan” Stanik, 62, was one of three men on board the lorry when it crashed on Mill Street on Tuesday (November 11).
The two other men, a second passenger, 47, and the driver, 50, were seriously injured and remain in hospital in a stable condition.
Mr Stanik's family confirmed he was the passenger who died in the crash and said in a statement:
"He enjoyed nothing more than a pint of Guinness at the pub in the village, long rambles with his beloved terrier Bella, cheering on Hereford FC at the weekend, and spending time with his children, Tilly, Alfie and Charlie.
"Dad was “on the bins” around the Herefordshire area for over 25 years so we know his friendly face will be missed. We are sorry to share this news with you all.
"None of us imagined that our most recent goodbye would be our final one; and that the simple, mundane moments we shared would suddenly become the ones we treasure the most.
"It feels surreal to wake up on an ordinary Tuesday and have someone taken from your life so suddenly and cruelly and as a family, we are struggling to comprehend what has happened.
"We do hope that you can respect our privacy and leave the police to investigate today’s events comprehensively without online speculation so that we can get the answers we deserve."
The building that was struck by the lorry was empty at the time of the collision.
An investigation into the crash continues and West Mercia Police are appealing for any witnesses to what happened to come forward.
Herford FC have also paid tribute to Mr Stanik who was a supporter of the club.
A spokesperson for Hereford FC said: "We are also very sorry to hear of the passing of fan Andzie Stanik, who was involved in the tragic incident in Leominster yesterday."
The club added that they send their "heartfelt condolences" to Mr Stanik's family and friends and confirmed that Hereford FC would remember the life of Andzie Stanik during their annual Memorial Matchday on January 10th.
