Sheffield Wednesday file for administration
It follows months of issues with the Championship club over unpaid wages
Last updated 24th Oct 2025
Sheffield Wednesday has filed for administration; the latest twist in a long running saga at the financially troubled Championship club.
The notice was filed at 10.01am on Friday morning at a specialist companies court.
The club's financial issues under current owner Dejphon Chansiri have been well-documented, with reports that a winding-up order from HMRC was imminent.
Now, a notice to appoint an administrator has been filed at the Insolvency and Companies Court, which is a specialist court within the High Court.
It follows months of deadlock at Hillsborough, the staff seeing their wages go unpaid on multiple occasions, a string of senior players leaving over the summer and the high profile departure of boss Danny Rohl, who helped keep the club in the second tier.
Fans have been boycotting matches, including the most recent home defeat to Middlesbrough.
We're yet to receive any official word from the club.
