The 46-year-old was found at his home in Gee Cross, Greater Manchester on Sunday 14th September.
News of his death rocked the world of sport, with thousands of people lining the streets of the city for his funeral on Friday 10 October.
A hearing at South Manchester Coroner's Court heard Hatton had died by hanging, and was found by his manager.
Paul Speak, who was present at the hearing, confirmed he was due to fly to Dubai with Hatton the following day.
A full inquest will begin on March 20 2026.
In a tribute released after his death, Hatton's family said: "He inspired generations with his fighting spirit, his humility, and his love for the sport.
"But beyond the titles, the nights to remember, and the roar of the crowd, he remained the same down-to-earth Richard who never forgot where he came from.
As a family, our loss is immeasurable, and words cannot truly capture the pain we feel.
"Yet in the midst of our grief, we have been deeply moved by the overwhelming outpouring of love and support."
