US rapper Fatman Scoop passes away after performance at the age of 53
The artist had a string of hits in the 90s and 00s
American rapper Fatman Scoop has died at the age of 53 after performing onstage.
The performer, whose real name was Isaac Freeman, had been performing at an event in Connecticut in the United States on Friday (August 30th) when he collapsed on stage.
He was taken to hospital after falling on stage, but despite the medical professionals' best efforts, he was pronounced dead.
The singer, who was best known for his songs such as "Be Faithful", had his death confirmed by his talent agency MN2S.
In a statement released on social media, the agency said: "We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our dear friend and client, Fatman Scoop, at the age of 53.
"Scoop was a beloved figure in the music world, whose work was loved by countless fans across the globe.
"His iconic voice, infectious energy and great personality made an indelible mark on the industry, and his legacy will live on through his timeless music."
Fatman Scoop appeared on a number of British TV shows, including Celebrity Big Brother in 2015.
