Man released without charge after woman falls from window in Plymouth

The woman in her 20s remains in a critical condition in hospital

A man has been released without charge after a women sustained life-threatening injuries when she fell out of a window in Plymouth.

Devon and Cornwall Police said that any further leads that were being followed ended, and believed that there was no criminality in the incident.

A 35-year-old man who had been arrested on suspicion of false imprisonment was later freed as a result of the investigation ruling out foul play.

Emergency services were called to a property on Marlborough Street in Plymouth on Saturday (September 16th), where officers found a woman in her 20s laying on the ground.

She was believed to have fallen out of the window and onto the street. She was taken to Derriford Hospital for treatment and currently remains in a critical condition.

In a statement, Devon and Cornwall Police's Temporary Detective Inspector Esther Gould confirmed the force were looking elsewhere in their enquiries.

"Following further inquiries into the investigation, we have currently ruled out any criminal element into the incident," she said.

"In light of this development, the 35-year-old man who was arrested on Saturday on suspicion of false imprisonment has been released with no further action to be taken.

"The woman is still in a critical condition in hospital and our thoughts are with her and her family.

"The scene guard has been removed from the property and we would like to take this opportunity to express our appreciation to the local community whilst we carried out our initial inquiries into the investigation."
