Met detectives investigating a fatal shooting in Croydon have charged a man with murder.

39 year old Byron Cole, of Gleneldon Road, Lambeth, has been charged with murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.

He has been remanded to custody and will appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 24 June.

An investigation was launched after officers were called to reports of a shooting on Imperial Way at 17:04hrs on Thursday, 19 June.

Police name victim

41 year old Anthony Morrison was found with gunshot wounds. He was treated by paramedics but died at the scene.

His next-of-kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

A Met Spokesperson said: "On Sunday, 22 June, Met officers arrested a 39-year-old man on suspicion of murder. He was charged as above.

A 37-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. She was released on bail pending further enquiries."
