Man charged with attempted murder after nurse stabbed in Oldham's A&E

Detectives investigating the attempted murder of a nurse in A&E in Oldham have charged a man.

Rumon Haque (29/06/1987) from Royton in Oldham has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a bladed article.

He has been remanded to custody to appear at Manchester Magistrates Court on Tuesday 14 January 2024.

The nurse - who is in her 50s - remains in hospital with potentially life changing injuries.

Detective Superintendent Matt Walker said:

“Our thoughts are with the nurse as she continues to receive treatment in hospital for her injuries, and our priority remains supporting her, her family, and her colleagues at this difficult time.

“We continue to work closely with our NHS colleagues to support anyone who has been affected by this incident.”

These charges relate to an incident which took place in the Acute Medical Unit at Royal Oldham Hospital on Saturday 11 January.
