A Downton man's been given a CBE for charitable services to military veterans - and given his honour in a special ceremony.

Bryn Parry founded Help for Heroes with his wife Emma, in 2007.

The charity's raised millions of pounds since then and supports injured, wounded and sick personnel through their recovery and beyond.

Sadly, Bryn is living with terminal cancer though, so a special private investiture has been held at his home.

That's been conducted by Hampshire's Lord Lieutenant, Nigel Atkinson, on behalf of the King this week (Wednesday 15th February).

Bryn says he's 'deeply honoured' to receive a CBE.

He posted on Instagram about the day and joked that afterwards he was going 'back to PJs'.

Bryn and Emma Parry were honoured with OBEs in 2010, for their work with veterans, and stepped aside from Help for Heroes in 2015.

The charity still has its base in Downton, the village where it was founded.

They've sent their best wishes to Bryn at this time:
