Hairy Biker Dave Myers will be remembered this weekend in a charity motorbike ride-out this weekend - called “I’m having a Dave Day.”

Dave Day takes place on Saturday (8th June), and it will see bikers from across the UK and beyond take part in a 300 mile trek from North London to Dave’s hometown of Barrow in Cumbria.

The ride will be led by Dave's close friend and Hairy Bikers co-star Si King.

It's anticipated over 10,000 motorcyclists will take part.

The memorial ride starts at 7am at Ace Café on London's North Circular road - with four stops along the way in Oxford, Solihull, Knutsford, and Kendal.

The voyage finishes at Barrow Town Hall shortly before 4pm.

Riders can take part in the entire journey, or they can join or leave the convoy at any of the rest points.

Non-riders can also attend each of the stops to show their support.

Dave's wife, Lili, is overwhelmed the response to Dave Day:

"This event has brought so much joy in so many people's lives, and I am so excited about this. I can't even explain how excited. I can't contain my excitement. Its really fantastic.

"We were hopeful for a few 100 bikers when we started this and it just grew and grew to an extent that now it just has legs on its own and it's just amazing to see."

The final location in Barrow will feature food stalls, events and afternoon speeches, plus there will be a festival of Dave at the Barrow Raiders Rugby Club with performances from Massive Wagons and other local bands.

“I’m having a Dave Day!” is raising money for two charities: The Institute for Cancer Research, London and Childline.

Dave Myers died aged 66 in February following a two-year battle with cancer.
