Multiple people injured after crash involving fire engine and two buses near Longstanton

Up to 19 people have been injured following a serious collision involving a fire engine and two guided buses in Cambridgeshire this afternoon.
Emergency services attended the scene on the B1050 Station Road between Longstanton and Willingham shortly after 2pm.
Three people – including one with serious injuries – have been taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital. Up to 15 others, including children, were treated at the scene for less serious injuries, with seven of those also taken to hospital.
The East of England Ambulance Service confirmed that four ambulances, three Hazardous Area Response Team vehicles, two paramedic cars, and two air ambulances – from East Anglian Air Ambulance and MAGPAS – were deployed to the scene.
A spokesperson said: “We are still on the scene and there are numerous casualties. Three patients are being transported to Addenbrooke’s Hospital by ambulance, one with serious injuries. Up to 13 other patients with less serious injuries, including children, are being assessed at the scene.”
A spokesperson for Stagecoach East said: "We can confirm that two of our vehicles were involved in an incident at approximately 2.30 on 16 April at Longstanton, crossing the B1050.
“Our first thoughts are for the welfare of those affected by the incident. Safety is our absolute priority, and we will carry out a full investigation into the circumstances as well as assisting police with their inquiries.”
Cambridgeshire Police said: “We were called at about 2.05pm today with reports of a collision involving a fire engine and two buses. There have been a number of injuries, and emergency services remain at the scene.”
The road remains closed while investigations continue.
