Away fans will not be allowed to attend the final two rounds of Premier League games this season.

Up to 10,000 fans could be allowed into the stadiums to watch the matches if the Government go ahead with the planned easing of restrictions on 17th May, however this will be limited to home fans only.

The Government is set to confirm in the coming days whether the next planned easing of restrictions will take place.

A statement released by the Premier League read: “Following consultation with clubs, it was agreed matches would not be open to away supporters due to varying operational challenges across the league and the need to deliver a consistent approach, while maximising the opportunity for home-fan attendance.

“The safety and security of supporters is of paramount importance. Clubs have a proven track record of providing Covid-safe environments and have operational plans in place ready to safely welcome supporters back to their stadiums.”

Fans attending last month's Carabao Cup final were required to provide proof of two negative Covid tests before entering Wembley, but the Premier League is yet to confirm if it will use such measures.

However, the league is openly supportive of the Covid certfication system, with executive director Bill Bush describing it as an "acceptable burden" in order to allow spectators back into venues.

Here are the key dates in the Government's roadmap out of lockdown:

21st June: Nightclubs could reopen

STEP FOUR: From 21st June all remaining restrictions on social distancing could be lifted, and larger events may be allowed to resume. Nightclubs may also be allowed to reopen.

21st June: Bigger weddings

STEP FOUR: Bigger wedding celebrations may be permitted from 21st June.

21st June: Mass events

STEP FOUR: If all restrictions on social distancing are lifted on 21st June, mass events including concerts and festivals will be allowed to resume.
