All the BEST BITS from Forest's play-off promotion, as fans left "crying all afternoon"
Many fans at Wembley have never watched their club in the Premier League
Last updated 30th May 2022
It was a day full of emotion for Nottingham Forest fans everywhere, as the Reds beat Huddersfield 1-0 at Wembley to secure a spot in the Premier League.
Whether it was younger fans who had never seen their team in the top division, or older generations seeing Forest return to former glory after so many years - we caught the best moments from throughout the day.
A sea of red
From 7am in the morning until the final train out of St Pancras station that night, Forest fans were in every corner of London ready to watch what would've been their most nervous game in a long time.
The Reds easily outnumbered Town fans, sold out their almost-forty-thousand allocation and, frankly, had a show of support deserving of the Premier League.
The headlines
There were so many stories underlining the big fixture, and bizarre stats which weren't in Nottingham Forest's favour.
The Reds had never made it to an English Football League Play-Off Final in history, having gone out at the semi-final stages on four prior occasions.
It was also Forest's first-ever appearance at new Wembley, whereas it was their competitors second showing in 5 years - giving them considerably more experience.
What it means
We spoke to plenty of fans after they'd exited Wembley, having watched Forest lift the play-off, promotion-winning trophy - here's some of the things they told us:
- "The tears are just streaming down. I can't even get over it, I've been crying all afternoon. I didn't prepare for this."
- "I've never felt a feeling before this in my life. I'm 33 years old now, I've never seen Forest in the Premier League, I've never seen them at Wembley - this is the first of everything for me, honestly it's mind-blowing."
- "I came here today, nervous, and we've got there. We're in the Premier League after 23 years. We're there"
- "I can't even find the words to be honest, where we've come from to how we've finished the season is just beyond amazing and it honestly hasn't sunk in yet. I think it'll probably take a couple of days to sink in."
- "I can't put into words. ÂŁ200 million. What more can you say? Come on. Wow. What a rubbish game by the way but, wow."
