Michael O’Neill has revealed a “belief” in the Northern Ireland squad that anything is possible when it comes to qualifying of major tournaments.
And he said that the players were determined to get to another Euros finals.
“I think what we have built up in the last four years is a belief that we can get there – possibly a belief that did not exist previously,” he said.
O’Neill is guesting on Part Two of our latest football show – an international special – now available to view on Cool FM’s Facebook page (see link below).
He said there would be “no room for error” though going into qualification for the Euros.
“As long as you maintain that kind of form, then the players will believe that and so when the draw is made obviously that is going to be a big factor and we will take it from there,” he said.
“It’s a very tight qualification from March to November there is no room for error it’s five double headers – 10 very intense games.”
O’Neill said as a result the Nations League was an important tournament.
“The main thing for us now is that we use the Nations League to give us that momentum going into the qualification,” he said.
O’Neill also talks about young keeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell and his incredible start to the domestic season with Championship side, Leeds.
