One of the most promising young talents in the Irish League has started preparing for a potential future in management.

At the tender age of just 22, Coleraine defender Lyndon Kane is undertaking his UEFA B Licence course.

He was the youngest to take part in the programme with the Irish FA last week.

Kane told Downtown & Cool FM that he is forward planning after a nightmare spell on the sidelines with injury.

The last year and a half I’ve broken my foot three times so I’ve had three operations – so more than likely if it was to go again, then that’s me,” he said

“So I am thinking ahead – or at least trying to think ahead.

“I don’t know if coaching is definitely going to be for me but that’s why I’ve come along here to try it.

“But I definitely need a Plan B.”

Kane says it was surreal lining up alongside some of his footballing heroes including Liverpool’s Champions League winner, Luis Garcia.

I remember Luis Garcia playing for Liverpool – and now you’re sitting beside him in reception.

“It’s weird but it’s a great experience – and I am glad I came here.”
