Brendan Irvine and his Dublin teammate Kellie Harrington will together carry Ireland's flag during the Olympic opening ceremony in Tokyo on Friday.

25-year-old Irvine is making his second Olympic appearance, and is the captain of the 7-person boxing squad.

For the first time ever, all of the participating nations have been invited to nominate both a male and female athlete to carry the flag during the parade.

16 of Ireland's 31 Olympic medals have come in boxing.
