OLYMPICS: McIlroy and Lowry qualify
Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry are to set to represent Team Ireland at the Olympic Games in Tokyo at the end of next month.
The pair qualified after the event's rankings list was published yesterday (Tuesday).
McIlroy is placed sixth overall with Lowry in 18th place.
Both players missed the Rio Olympics in 2016 - with Ryder Cup captain Padraig Harrington taking part.
He is now first reserve should either McIlroy or Lowry be unable to take part in Japan.
Meanwhile, newly crowned US Open winner Jon Rahm, who is also the new number one ranked golfer, will represent Spain.
The event takes place from July 29 to August 1.
