Keefe in tribute to fans after Giants reach Continental Cup final
"Our home support was the difference"
What a season so far for the Belfast Giants …
Already flying high in the Elite League, they are now into the January final of the Continental Cup for the second time in their history.
Adam Keefe’s side lost their final semi-final game of the tournament to top Polish side GKS Katowice.
But previous victories over both the Croatian and Italian champions was enough to send the locals into the final where they’ll meet GKS again as well as HK Gomel from Belarus.
The Semi-Final group saw one of the highest-ever attended with more than 5,500 fans packed into the SSE Arena on Saturday night for the Giants vs Katowice clash.
Keefe says that help them significantly
"The fans gave us a lift - being on the bench and experiencing that atmosphere was something special," said Keefe. "I know our fans have a great reputation of travelling well to away games, though being at home for European games gave the city of Belfast the chance to come out and support the team and they made it a spectacular event.
“Our home support was the difference maker in seeing us advance to the Super Final."
