James McClean announces his retirement from international football
Republic Ireland Captain James McClean has announced he's to step down from international football.
In a statement he said his last game will be against New Zealand at the Aviva Stadium in November.
He's thanked fans and paid tribute to his previous managers and teammates.
The wideman - who currently plays for Wrexham - has won 102 caps for the side, scoring 11 times.
Having begun his career with a single first-team appearance for Institute, his break out arrived following a move to Derry City in the League of Ireland in 2008. After three successful seasons, McClean signed for Sunderland in 2011, with two spells at Wigan Athletic either side of periods at West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City.
He moved to Wrexham at the beginning of this season.
McClean won seven caps for Northern Ireland Under-21s in the 2008-2009 season, before switching allegiances for the Republic from there.
