Ireland went down to a 32-17 loss to the Maori All Blacks on Wednesday in the opening match in their tour of New Zealand in Hamilton.

The home side were mesmerizing in the first half - notching four tries to Ireland's one to establish a 22-point chasm.

Ireland did show signs of improvement after the interval - with Gavin Coombes crossing for a try. However the hosts were not troubled.

There was more bad news for Ireland with the news that James Hume and Cian Healy succumbed to second half injuries.

Ireland coach Andy Farrell will now look to get his side ready for the three-Test series against New Zealand on Saturday in Auckland.
