IFA probe 'inappropriate betting' claims at Crewe United

The IFA are investigating claims of 'inappropriate betting' by players at Crewe United.

Crewe United are being investigated after allegations of inappropriate betting on a match.

The claims were made after their Irish Cup sixth round clash with Warrenpoint Town.

The investigations are not related to Warrenpoint.

An IFA statement said: "Following allegations of inappropriate betting by registered players of Crewe United around the club’s Irish Cup 6th round match against Warrenpoint Town, an investigation was carried out by the Irish FA’s Security and Integrity Department.

"A case report has been prepared and has now been submitted to the Association’s Disciplinary Committee who will consider it at their next meeting on Wednesday 8 March."
