Jordan Stewart could still have a future at Linfield – despite being transfer listed.

The 23-year-old has been told he's free to leave Windsor.

But with the window closing in just nine days, most clubs have already completed their summer recruitment.

Speaking on our latest BetMcLean Cool FM football show in association with NIFL, Blues coach Darren Murphy said Linfield's strong opening – they have maximum points this season in the Danske Bank Premiership – did not influence the decision.

Murphy is a guest this week on our football show - alongside Ballymena captain Jim Ervin.

The show is now available to view on the Cool FM Facebook page (see below)

"Our start has been good and Jordan came on as a sub against Glenavon and also against Institute and then he wasn't in the squad against Crusaders,” he said.

“When you've got a big squad players want to play - unfortunately sometimes that not the case."

Murphy said he would not rule out Stewart getting back into the team.

"It came very, very quickly but Jordan is a talented boy and if nothing develops that suits then club then he'll be kept in and around the squad, and can hopefully push on and get himself back into the team,” he told us.

"If nothing materialises that's right for Jordan or right for the club then he'll remain at the club. Like the rest of them that haven't been in the squad, he'll just have to work hard to earn a place in the starting eleven."

Elsewhere in the show, Murphy talks about Blues boss David Healy – “he knows what’s needed” – the club’s title ambitions and gives his views on their biggest rivals, Crusaders.
