Glentoran defeat 10-man Cliftonville in European play-off final

A Junior double sends the Glens in to the Europa Conference League qualifiers.

Glentoran will return to European action next season as they cruised past Clfitonville at the Oval yesterday.

The final score was 2-0 with striker Junior putting the Glens ahead on 35 minutes with a brilliant Panenka-style penalty.

Junior doubled the lead five minutes later after chasing up a rebound.

The Reds threatened on a few occasions in the second half but the east Belfast side stood strong.

Cliftonville's hopes of any comeback ended with the dismissal of substitute Donal Rocks, who was only on the pitch two minutes before his bad challenge on Devlin resulted in a straight red-card from referee Ian McNabb.

Glentoran sailed to the final whistle and will look forward to playing in next season's Europa Conference League qualifiers.
