Belfast boxer Carl Frampton says his long-anticipated showdown with Jamal Herring will take place in 2021 - but it might be held in the United States.

Covid-19 has affected plans to stage the WBA super-featherweight bout in Belfast, and at the moment, London is looking the most likely host city.

"They're telling me between the end of January and the end of February with London apparently the front runner, but it wouldn't surprise me if it ended up in the states," said Frampton.

The Jackal is aiming to claim the belt and write his name into the history books of Irish boxing.

"It's a chance for me to become a three weight world champion and create history, become the only fighter from the island of Ireland to have done it, one of the only British fighters to have done it," said Frampton.
