Northern Ireland will host next year’s Home Nations Futsal Championships, it can be revealed today.

A venue is yet to be decided but the event is expected to be held in the province at the end of November, early December 2018.

Speaking exclusively to Downtown & Cool FM, NI coach Jonny Michael confirmed they would be hosting the tournament which will feature the best futsal players across the Uk.

He told us that it was a great chance to showcase the sport here.

“It’s very exciting for us – we plan to have a number of international games at home – now that we have facilities that can host these sort of games,” he said.

“It will be nice to have the Home Nations on our patch.

“We see this as an opportunity to show how far we have come as a team but also it’s a chance for others to see this fantastic sport that is futsal which we all love very much.”

Michael’s side have just returned from this year’s Home Nations event which took place in the international Oriam sports complex on the outskirts of Edinburgh.
