WATCH: 'Crisis, what crisis?' Waterworth says write Linfield off at your peril

Andy Waterworth has denied Linfield are a club in crisis.

The Blues striker did acknowledge the players were very much feeling the pain of a recent poor run that has seen them slip to fifth in the Dankse Bank Premiership.

But speaking on Cool FM’s Facebook football show, in association with NIFL, Waterworth warned against writing them off retaining their title.

“From the outside, if Linfield lose two games, they’re in a crisis,” he said. “In the dressing room we understand it’s not good and we are hurting.

“But we are not feeling sorry for ourselves – we were in a situation last year where people were writing us off in January when 12 points behind and we went on to win the treble.”

Linfield meet runaway leaders, Coleraine, in the Irish league match of the day tomorrow at Windsor.

It is seen as a must-win game if David Healy’s side are to stay in touch and Waterworth’s optimistic this could be the turning point.

“We all agree here that football’s a funny game – one minute you’re down, the next your’re up,” he said. “One result can turn your season and that comes this Saturday.”

During the show, hosted as usual by Cool presenter Pete Snodden and featuring football writer Steven Beacom, Waterworth also discusses what it’s like working under a football legend such as Healy plus former manager David Jeffrey.

Also on the panel is former Blues striker Matthew Tipton, now manager of Warrenpoint.

Tipton says he is loving life as a boss but admits the “highs” do not last as long as a manager as they did as a player.
