Linfield's summer haul of prize money could be set to reach almost £1m

The Danske Bank Premiership champions host HB Torshavn in the Europa League 2nd round of qualifying on Thursday, with the tie at 2-2 after the first leg in the Faroe Islands.

In a lucrative continental campaign, Linfield have already lined their pockets with the Champions League defeat by Rosenborg earning them €280,000, with this round of the Europa League then securing €260,000.

Due to their status as domestic champions, they're guaranteed an additional €260,000 if they fail to reach the group.

"If you progress through one round of European football, you basically win the league 6 times over, in terms of prize money. It's huge. And if there's ever to be a full-time environment at Windsor Park, it would certainly help," said manager David Healy.

However, the Blues boss has warned money will not guarantee success.

"Financially it's big. We had the year when we drew Celtic in the Champions League, it was huge too, but we went on to win nothing that year," Healy added.

If Linfield manage to get past Torshavn, they'll face Sutjeska Niksic, securing another €280,000 in the process
